As these pages indicate, the 2015-2016 school year was salubrious for the school and one that ended with construction of our beautiful Hillside Playground. All great schools are engaging the same way all great slides are slippery (to borrow a phrase from Lemony Snickett). The big red slide is now a feature of our campus and it makes one wonder how we ever lived without it.

Sound governance, in combination with the ongoing dedication of our faculty and the generosity of our parent body have produced one of the great elementary school experiences in the Bay Area. Proudly, we have continued our long tradition of full participation in the Carey Fund from our parents, faculty, and Board of Trustees, resulting in a record-setting level of annual giving. The sum all fundraising this year reached a remarkable $1 million!

Your support of our program continues to surpass our expectations and enhances the experience of every student who attends this wonderful school. Special thanks to all the parent ambassadors as well as Lisa Fowler, Marshall Callies, and Kate Napolitano in the Development Office for enabling this continued prosperity.

We aim to be wise in the stewardship of all funds received and, in the pages that follow, I think you will see some examples of money well spent. Contributions to the annual fund allowed us to do many things including: host well-attended alumni outreach events, increase tuition assistance, improve our technology offerings to faculty and students, and conduct an array of off-campus field trips, including overnight trip for our fourth graders. Lastly, we debuted our website fresh with campus life content and we encourage you to browse our site to see the vibrance of a Carey education.

And, if you haven’t already, join us for a ride on the big red slide!
