The mission of the Advancement Committee is to support the Carey School by encouraging and facilitating philanthropy from the broader community of parents, faculty, and alumni. By all measures, the 2016-2017 school year was another outstanding success!
The Annual Fund enjoyed a strong year raising $576,557. Community support for the campaign was strong, as we achieved nearly 100% participation from parents, faculty, staff and administration. This year marked our inaugural “Carey Day of Giving”, a specific day targeted to raise awareness of the Annual Fund campaign with Carey parents. We promoted the day on Carey’s Facebook page – our first ever social media solicitation – and directly solicited parents on the Day of Giving itself. We look forward to continued use of Carey’s social media presence to build awareness of our philanthropic efforts with our Carey families. In other advancement news, we formally launched Carey’s planned giving campaign, known as the Flying Eagles. Several current and alumni Carey families stepped forward to make Carey a part of their wills and provide for future generations of Carey students.
The Carey School Parents Association (CSPA), led by Allison Keenan, brought the Carey community together to raise approximately $334,912 for our school. The amount includes $50,570 from the annual Carey Walkfest (chaired for the second year in a row by Lily Ng and Stine Jewett), and $284,342 from the exciting “Evening at the Grammys” auction, chaired by Nicole Lenihan and Erika Kwei McMullen. This event raised over $180,000 to support financial aid for Carey students.
This vital funding would not have been possible without all the hard work of our Advancement Committee members and other CSPA volunteers throughout the Carey community. Their dedicated effort made it possible to achieve our advancement goals and, in doing so, helped sustain Carey’s mission of creating curious, confident, and joyful learners! We thank all of you and look forward to another exciting year ahead.
