By Mike Ryerson, Advancement Committee Chairperson

The Advancement Committee supports the Carey School through our various fundraising efforts directed toward our community of parents, faculty, and alumni. I am pleased to report that 2017-2018 was another successful year!

The Annual Fund raised over $650,000, nearly a school record, and almost 15% more than the previous year’s total. 100% of our parents, faculty, and staff came together to contribute to the fund and demonstrate strong community support for Carey. Likewise, the Carey School Parents Association (CSPA), led by Lily Ng, raised an outstanding $358,000 for our school. This total includes $41,000 from the annual Carey Walkfest (chaired by Stine Jewett and Amy Sherman) and $317,000 from the “Carey me Back to 1998” auction, led by an amazing team of parent volunteers: Erica Kwei McMullen, Leslie Widmann, Melinda Osterloh, Lily Ng, Lori Dyner, Moira Baum, Catherine Nelson, Jamie Hwang, Kelly Markson, Tara de la Garza, Ming Lacey, and Angie Kim. This event – in addition to giving us all excuses to raid our closets for those favorite flannel shirts last worn in the nineties – raised $180,000 to support the construction of a new turf field on the upper campus.

This vital funding would not have been possible without all the hard work of our Advancement Committee members and other CSPA volunteers throughout the Carey community. Their dedicated effort made it possible to achieve our advancement goals and, in doing so, helped sustain Carey’s mission of creating curious, confident, and joyful learners! We thank all of you and look forward to another exciting year ahead.
