Development continues to be a critical function at The Carey School, especially during a year of unprecedented uncertainty. Despite the unique challenges that COVID presented during the second half of the school year, I am pleased to share that 2019 – 2020 was a strong fundraising year.
The vast majority of our efforts were focused on sustaining momentum for our Expanding Possibilities capital campaign. As we met with families to share our vision for the new two-story building and reconfigured courtyard, it was clear that having flexible, multi-purpose spaces, modernized classrooms, and a more open, welcoming courtyard were compelling features for our community.
Our Development Committee continued to share this vision with families – pivoting to virtual solicitations in the spring. By the end of June, we had raised $4.2M of our $5M goal.We are truly grateful for the hard work of our team and supporters who helped bring this project to life. Construction kicked off in September 2020, which enabled us to utilize the additional square footage in the new building when campus re-opened in the fall.
In addition, our Annual Fund continued to garner strong support from the Carey community, bringing in $625,000 to support what tuition does not cover, such as professional development for our educators, special programs, and other operational needs.
Thank you to the many volunteers and donors throughout the Carey community that have helped us achieve our development goals. We look forward to another great year!
